Mitondo Jean Bosco, former prisoner
Profession:
Former prisoner
Location:
Democratic Republic of Congo
Mitondo Jean Bosco is a 30 year old man, orphan since he was very young and without profession, who faced a mental depression and was imprisoned for “malicious destruction”.

“In the poor conditions of the prison, I was put in the category of people prohibited to leave their cell. My file passed court several times but I never appeared and had to stay in prison. When finally a Fidesco lawyer came to visit me, he realized that I was very sick and could not stand upright for a long time. I was weakened, not only by disease, but especially by lack of food. I told the lawyer: “I do not want to appear, let me die in prison.” But after talking to the Fidesco team I agreed to appear at a public hearing. It was the first time I was out of prison. When the lawyer requested bail, it was granted. Not much later I was a free man.”
